Implementing

Item 2122-11: Provost's New DEI Principles in Tenure Process

At the September 7, 2021 Steering Committee meeting, the Steering Committee discussed a letter and additional documents from the engineering CAC and voted to wait to send to Faculty Senate until the provost had the opportunity to speak with the Engineering College Advisory Council. The
provost met with ECAC on October 29, 2021. The Engineering CAC chairperson would still like the matter considered by Faculty Senate but agreed Spring Semester made more sense for logistical reasons. Provost Teresa K. Woodruff presented at the January 5, 2022 UCFT meeting. Provost Woodruff recommended in the 2021 RPT memorandum that DEI be integrated into the RPT process. UCFT plans on discussing the issue at further meetings. The issue will be taken up at the January 11, 2022 Steering Committee meeting. At the January 11, 2022 Steering Committee meeting, it was decided to allow UCFT to continue their work on the issue and encouraged them to work with the ECAC chair regarding concerns. A letter from dissenting faculty was also sent to UCFT. Following discussion at its March 30, 2022 meeting the committee did not approved the proposed resolution from the ECAC chairperson.

The University Committee on Faculty Affairs discussed concerns raised by faculty members at its March 14, 2023 meeting.
