Implementing

Item 2021-12: 10-Month vs 12-Month Salary Issue

At the October 6, 2020 Steering meeting, President Stanley indicated that General Counsel had reviewed the legal memo and were working on something. He knows acadgov wants a response, and he will get one.

President reported that a group of law professors is working on it with the admin at November 3, 2020 Steering. Stanley included an update in his November UC remarks; Frank Ravitch is point person. As of January 12, 2021, Ravitch et al are still working on it. As of March 19, 2021, Ravitch is planning to meet with VP Dave Byelich at some point in Spring Semester, but no date has been set.

Dean and Associate Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Thomas Jeitscko is taking over for VP Dave Byelich. At October 12, 2021 UCFA Jeitscko reported that admin is open and willing to give this option but possible implimentation difficulty in implimenting with HR systems. Jeitscko will be reaching out to MSU HR regarding possible problems and follow up.

At the November 2, 2021 UCFA meeting, Jeitschko reported that the option would be implemented but could take as long as a year because of the changes to the HR software system that it would require.
