Item 2021-56: College of Education Fifth-Year Internship Requirement

ASMSU passed Bill 57-79 on March 4, 2021 endorsing a petition calling for changes to the College of Education's fifth-year internship requirement. On April 12, 2021, organizers wrote to the Board of Trustees outlining the concerns and asking for a written response to the letter. At the April 13, 2021 FLG-BOT agenda meeting, Board Secretary Nakia Barr suggested that academic governance offer some guidance to the organizers given that they are appealing to the Board on an issue delegated to the faculty. UCUE Chairperson Andrew Corner indicated that he is planning to pass the issue along to ASMSU leaders. The 2021-2022 UCUE is expected to take this up. A UCUE member indicated that the College of Education is working on it and will likely send it to UCUE in 2021-2022 as a curricular change.
