Item 2223-22: Presidential Search Procedures
Samuel L. Stanley Jr. resigned from his position as president on October 13, 2022 and the Board of Trustees appointed of Teresa K. Woodruff as interim president on October 31, 2022. As stated in the Bylaws for Academic Governance section 3.2.4.7. which states "The University Council shall propose procedures to the Board of Trustees for the participation of faculty and students in the selection of the President." At the January 24, 2023 Faculty Senate meeting the faculty senate discussed how they wished faculty to be involved in the search for the next president of the university. At the January 31, 2023 University Council meeting the issue was further discussed and it was agreed that the steering committee would develop proposals for the procedures and present them to the University Council for approval.
